Buy or sell?

I would buy that. I feel like our returning production is the best we've had in comparison to the last few years. I'm not sure about our depth though. The Ole Miss Center and the Penn St guard are the only ones we know what we are getting, in addition to the St. Louis forward. So I don't think we will be quite as deep as this past year, being able to go 11 deep.

Hoping the post from St. Bonaventure can give real minutes.

I'd have to check the stats, but while we did go 10-11 deep, I think the bulk of minutes was rotation of about eight, with 2-3 getting a smaller look.

I'll take an 8 seed though.

My thing for MW in 26-27 - win games, plural, in SECT and NCAAT.

Sell.

This roster has some glaring holes. I am open to being surprised, and with the expanded tournament (yuck), maybe we still get in. But 8/9 feels too high.

I'm going to be lazy instead of digging back a year, but I think my thoughts on this past year's roster were "I have no idea what to expect."

I like 4 of the presumed starting 5 going into next season. We know who Blue is, and we know who Smurf is. If Kanon and Kareem can take the next step, that's 4 nice pieces. Scott at the 5 is a mystery to me. His rebounding numbers look...OK (10.3/40 minutes). That's my primary concern at that position after last season's rebounding disaster. He and Stagg have to do some work.

Dilione looks like a decent piece. I'd like to see his 3-point percentage tick up this year. Dunlap is a one-trick pony, but it's an important trick.

So IF:

• Blue avoids the big slump
• Kanon grows more consistent
• Kareem has a nice year 2 bump
• Scott can rebound
• Dilione replaces some of Wilkinson's production
• Dunlap can hit a few 3's off the bench each game

Then I think we can contend for 9th or 10th in the SEC. Lately, that has been good enough to get in. But that's a lot of ifs.

We have no depth, but the way we spend (or don't spend), there's little point in building it. I don't expect the two freshmen to contribute at all. I look at the way other SEC teams are spending and it just feels like we're way behind in the arms race.

I will say this: as much as I was against the Mike White hire, he has proven to be a good talent evaluator. Hopefully that continues.

You seem to be spot on. It's hard to see how the rebounding issue has been addressed with this roster. Hopefully Jonas can help build more production there.

Objectively we are bigger. Much bigger. Will that translate to rebounds? You and I both hope so. My concern right now is we are woefully thin at PG by my view.

It looks like our roster is complete now. I like the balance of freshmen and transfers. Coaches just need to do a better job retaining players from year to year. I would say this off-season they did much better than in the past about returning production. Still would like to see at least half the roster be retained. That seems like a reasonable expectation.

Looks like we have 3 capable guards....Smurf, Cain, and the Penn State guy.

That is worrisome IMHO.

I'm hoping that we saved a little money this year that can be used next year. Next years class could be special. We are currently in the top 2 for 4 players in the top 50.

Actually, 5 of the top 100.

But 3 of them play the same position.....shooting guard.

That's awesome. Just having that interest alone speaks highly that we are going in the right direction.

I just hope we can be financially competitive enough so we can sign these types of players.
