ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are trending in the right direction for one of the state’s top pass-rushers.
After extending an offer earlier this month, the Dawgs have now made the “Final Five” for fast-rising Lovejoy (GA) defender Olayiwola Oreofeoluwa Taiwo, one of the hottest prospects in country right now.
The long, athletic pass-rusher brings a strong 6-foot-3 225-pound frame and was been an easy offer for the Bulldogs and other college coaches who saw him practice this spring. Once a top “sleeper” prospect, Taiwo shows natural burst off the snap and impressive closing speed that allows him to consistently made plays in the backfield. He can make the “drive-killing” plays that great defenses need and his best football is still way, way ahead of him.
Here’s what the three-star EDGE defender had to say after earning his Georgia offer back on May 8th.
“I was super fired up about the offer when coach Knight called and told me. I know Georgia is a great program and known for wining and I also love how they develop their players and send them to the league every year. They’re also a very solid academic institution!”
After a big offer from the Dawgs, Taiwo has put the Bulldogs in hid final group as he starts official visits this weekend. The fast-rising three-star has a final group including Georgia, Wake Forest, Rutgers, Kansas, and Virginia Tech. He also holds an offer from the Indiana Hoosiers and Tennessee Vols. He’s had a giant spring and it’s easy to see why his recruitment took off recently. He’s one of the state’s top pass-rushers in the 2027 class and someone Georgia fans need to keep a close eye on moving forward.
Taiwo also plans to be in Athens this weekend for his big official visit.
