ATHENS - Official visit season has started, kicking off another critical summer for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs on the recruiting trail.
The Dawgs had several important official visitors in town this past weekend, and one is a major target for assistant James Coley. Georgia’s wide receivers coach has been recruiting four-star Amare Patterson from the very beginning, and the playmaking wideout from South Carolina made his way back to Athens this weekend for his big official visit.
Patterson has always been high on the Bulldogs, and he told Dawg Post his relationship with Coley continued to grow over the weekend.
“Coach Coley stands out because he’s real and straight-forward with everything. You can tell he genuinely cares about his players on and off the field and wants the best for them. He’s a great recruiter because he builds real relationships and makes you feel like a priority. His pitch about Georgia is all about development, competing at the highest level, and being surrounded by a championship culture every day. He believes Georgia could be a great fit for me because of how they develop players and prepare them for the next level while still pushing everybody to be their best.”

According to FanDuel, the Arkansas Razorbacks have +1800 odds to win the national championship next year.
As a prospect, it’s clear to see why the Bulldogs have been after Patterson from the start. They’re looking to bring in explosive pass-catchers, and Patterson brings exactly that. He brings plenty of speed at 6-foot-0 180-pounds with the ability to leap and make a tough catch down the field. He’s terrific after the catch and brings a physical style of play when blocking in space. However, one of his biggest strengths is his elusiveness. He’s quick, slippery, and does a great job of picking up yards after the catch. He’s a major weapon and one of the best receivers across the state.
As a junior last season for Bluffton High in Ridgeland, South Carolina, Patterson caught 51 passes for 912 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’s currently ranked as the No. 42 WR prospect and the No. 284 overall prospect in the country for the 2027 class.
